Well, instead of going to an event we spent a weekend at home. Probably just as well after getting back from the trip to England. Besides, Egils has been a let down ever since it moved from the lake site.
Jamie came up for the weekend and brought along his new french bell tent for a trial set-up. It looks great. We also had my parents, Ed, Suze, Z, as well as Jamie over to talk about the trip, look at pics, get goodies, pot-luck, and scheme about my glass furnace plans. Annie couldn't make it which was a real bummer since she got called in to work. There are just some times when you shouldn't pick up the phone.
Today I did a trial set up of the red pavilion using normal poles rather than the garage frame, and it looks like it will work all right. I need to get new ropes for the wall tent - I am thinking synthetic that is colored to look "natural" since I am horrible about letting them dry out and the ropes I have are mildewing badly. I started to waterproof the red pavilion, but ran out of Canvak when I was a little over half way done. I don't think their packaging estimates for coverage are very accurate. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much in between now and when the rest of my canvak arrives, because I am leaving the damn thing up. Maybe rain can be considered spring cleaning.
I wanted to go to June Fair next weekend, but Hank is leaving for a business trip to Florida on Sunday, so it looks like that is not going to happen. I am really yearning for a nice event, but at least we will have an improved camp by the time we actually go to something.
