Nov. 7th, 2006 10:40 amIt seems like forever since I updated.... which is almost on the mark. I have been up to a lot of stuff lately, most recently being the autocrat -in-name for the Equestrian Workshop in Mountain Edge. It was at Macha the Determined's house, which is why she couldn't be autocrat, but she did most of the event planning work, and I just got to look cute and play with the perty hourses. ornerie and getting to know some of the other horsie people better. And yup, I wanna get me on a horse. On the top of my list of cool horse things to do are mounted archery, mounted crest combat, and jousting. Just what I need to do with all of my "free time"... :-P
Oooh! And I finished making my first knitted pair of socks ever, and they fit and so so nice and fuzzy! Woot! WIll post pic when I find card-reader.
hanksan and I have finally decided to get off our butts and build our own house. For those of you who don't know, my parents are giving me a piece of property on which to build right next door to them. This means getting to walk to work since we are also building the glass shop in their old carraige house! hanksan and I have been discussing this for a while, weighing the advantages and disadvantages of taking out a huge mortgage of doom and building our dream house, vs. doing most of the construction ourselves and building a small house on which we will have little or no mortgage. We decided that having a house on which we only have to pay taxes is an awesome idea, so we are going for the latter plan. I started looking at various house kits on-line, because it seemed more likely that we would actually start construction and then eventually get it done if we could find a kit that would suit our needs, and we found what we think is the kit for us from First Day Cottages. We are looking at building the smaller salt-box and then eventually adding on, or even just putting up out-buildings if we decide we need more space. We are also going to be using the little house, that we built back in 2000 as either a guest room or some sort of project or sewing room. We are thinking about mostly living in it while selling our house and building the new house next spring/summer. Yes, I will still be going to events.... but it will be a bit more interesting than if we weren't trying to build a house at the same time. And probabaly no Pensic next summer after all... Now we need to finish hashing out floor plan ideasand come up with something we can both live with that will work with the house design. And in the mean time we are trying to finish all the remodeling stuff on our current house. Meep!
