Soooo Much Juggling! (and Hanksan says hi)
Juggling festival was totally awesome (as usual). I forget how good being surrounded by my type of geek feels. I ran into a bunch of people I know at the festival - some I didn't even know were still in the country. I ran into the guy who first taught me how to pass clubs (as well as most of my other tricks), Jim, who is ironically the ex-fiance of Arwen who I was judging later in the day at the Kingdom Bardic competition (I was even judging a juggling act - talk about coincidences). He is now running or is one of the owners of (not sure which) a prop store called Neon Husky, and is still out in Forest Grove. I ran into Rob Brown, the guy I took unicycle lessons from at Echo Theater long long time ago, and who is also a co-worker of Zenobia. I got to the festival just in time to take the end of a plate manipulation workshop by Rhys Thomas, the guy who originally taught me to do plate manipulation. Lewis, the guy who taight me how to do Poi stuff was there. I thought he was in Montreal at circus school, but apparently they kicked him out because he didn't want to be a juggler (heh) and he went to Switzerland to learn slack rope stuff and is now back in town teaching martial arts. Also saw Jess, the person Hanksan and I stayed with when we went to the first Seattle Juggling Festival. He bugged me about not going up to any Seattle festivals since then, so maybe we will make a greater effort to go (it is in May) if it happens next year. It may be canceled because it looks like the next IJA (internaltional jugglers association) festival will be in Portland, which will totally rock! It is in June. I keep meaning to get to one of the IJA festivals but they are always far away and expensive, so it will be too cool to have one near by. I am going to practice all winter so I don't suck next year. Really.
