Wow, so much life...

Well, life is weird and very busy. Hank bought us a cool $800 sewing machine that does embroidery and some neat embroidery software, so guess what I will be messing around with in my free time? Soon there will be chiken heads on EVERYTHING!!!! MUHAHAHAHA!!!!
Ok, now that the silliness is out, I can get onto the angsty lifeness. I was told yesterday that two different people I know have been diagnosed with cancer. The wife of one of my past co-workers from the rock gym, who is a very cool lady, has breast cancer. I found out about that at work. Then I left work at 6pm, showed up at Mountain Edge Defenders Tournament and performed my "magnificent Maurrice" juggling routine at 6:45 which went really well and everyone loved. Then I was told by one of my studio mates who also does SCA stuff that the director of Art Vine, the Newberg arts group that I am an artist in residence through, has lung cancer and is moving in with relative in California. Man. Many ups and downs... The today hanksan and I went to the Mountain Edge council meeting and got approval to send hanksans Kingdom A&S bid in. Exciting and scary - if it gets accepted next year will be interesting since I am also planning to compete again.
On to other life matters. I have been feeling really fat. I am now done with the winter gain 8 lbs part of my life cycle and starting in on loosing some more weight. I have actually managed to go for walks/joggs for the last three days now, so am starting to feel somewhat better. The really depressing thing is that my knees start hurting too much for me to run after 50 - 100 feet, despite the physical therapy I have been doing. Therapy has definitely helped with climbing, but I don't think I will ever be able to run much. My goal of someday running in the hood to coast is probably going to disappear. I will talk to my therapist about it next time I go in, but I think I may have to just be happy with being able to climb and not having my knees hurt all the time. I have never really been a runner - I have never been able to run a mile (which is strange since I can actually swim a mile) even back when I weighed 125 and did fencing and rowing and was in good shape at the beginning of high school. I guess we have to choose our battles.
Friday night added to the motivation to get skinny and cool. Hank and I went to cirque de soliel. He bought me VIP tikets for my b-day and it was a blast. It was fun being pampered, served fancy treats and various types of wines and deserts before the show and at intermission. And the show, Verakai, was awesome. The juggler even rocked, and I am pretty jaded when it comes to jugglers. He did some nice stuff with hats and large balls and balancing. There were some nice circus-thin-muscular bodies that were inspirational to both Hank and I, and we have started practicing our flexibility and juggling more. Mmmm uberness. The costumes were so pretty. I wish I had seen them before I got married - I would have made my wedding dress like that. Well, if I had weighed as little as I do now that is. At any rate, I have a lot of cool sewing, juggling, performance, cool stuff ideas that were sparked by the show.
