I had been having issues with Pip expressing his extreme displeasure with sharing the house with another cat and a dog by targeting Hank's clothes for some "special attentions". In response to this, the vet had me put him on ati-depressants. In addition to this, we purchased a little doodad that plugs into the wall like an air freshener and dispenses good cat pheromones. We have had it plugged in for a few days now and both cats are sitting like lumps on the char next to the outlet where it is plugged in, moving only to eat and go to the bathroom. OMG it is weird. It is un-natural. But they are not going to the bathroom on Hanks clothes... Pip isn't even sleeping on the bed anymore - this is obviously not a permanent solution. Or I need another one for the bedroom too.

I'm sorry but that just make me laugh out loud. Parked in front of the pheromones. Cats are high and liking it... And some folks think pheromones aren't real. Hmmm. Don't know how much those things cost but I'm tempted to find one for my easily freaked out furry friend. I'd like some information about this wonder if you have it.

Have you thought about putting them in several places in the house? So they can park on the bed or elsewhere?

Yes we have. They cost $45 if I remember right. Not a cheap solution, but I was quite tired of getting my clothes peed on by pip. They only last a month, but then you can by refills. The little thing that plugs into the wall is a lot fancier than the glade plugins you can buy at the store.

Hopefully we can ween pip off of them as soon as he is used to be happy with the dog around.

Thanks!
Do you know what they are called or a brand name?

I didn't put that in my response because I didn't remember. I or my wife will look it up and post the info here. Maybe even with a picture of Happy Cats (tm)

feliway

omg, they rock

Archie would jump on circe who would get so nervous about it she'd get a psychotic episode.

6 weeks with the feliway thing and she's totally mellow and no sitting in a corner screaming peeing herself (she's got issues, my circe...)

less jumping on when I keep it filled but I can go without and it seems ok.

the spray works great to keep them from clawing the sofa too.

all hail the great feliway!

:)

I am planig on at least getting one more feliway for the bedroom. And hopefully weaning Pip off after a few months, since the re-fills are still ~$20 each. Our other cat, Theophilus, is naturally VERY laid back, and is practically comatose these days. It is amazing to see them actually sitting on the same chair though.

Thanks for the name. Evidently they sell a spray that works too. Perhaps without the Too Happy effects.

Sadly they don't sell anything to calm dogs down. I think I will be forced to setup an agility course in the backyard and run The Dog Rasputin through it over and over again until she falls over :p
