Bows and Blades

I took Theophilos to his first event this weekend when we day-tripped Bows and Blades. It was VERY laid back. Which was good because, hauling the kitty around with me did impair my mobility quite a bit. I pitty all you mothers - I have enough trouble with a cat, thank god I don't have to deal with a kid. I can just tuck Theo into the bag and he is on a harness the whole time. He was pretty much content to sleep in his bag, flop on me when I sat down, tolerated the cooing and meowing noises from people pretty well, and was generally a nice warm fuzzy lump. A couple of times random noises suddenly got to him and he made a break for it, but since he had the harness on he didn't get anywhere, and he chilled out very quickly since he could just craw back into his bag and hide for a few minutes. He has been really cute since getting back from the event, even more friendly than usual, and he seemed to enjoy the car rides quite a bit. So I think he will be coming to Acorn War too. This will be fun - our pavilion will be a regular menagerie with Rasuptin & Theo. ;-) Acorn War is a good event at which to try out camping with both of them though, as it is close enough to home that I can bring Theo back if things get out of hand. The major reason I want to bring Theo is that he seems so desperate for attention when we have been gone for the weekend. Since he lived in a shelter for his entire life before we adopted him, he just isn't used to being along for long periods of time. I have always wanted an eventing cat, and he seems like he might be happier going with us than staying home.
Speaking of the pets, I am going to start cart training Rasputin. The lady Hank takes dog training classes from is willing to do private cart training lessons. Dad is already planning to weld me up a simple cart for training Rasputin with. The eventuall goal is to have a little wooden cart that she can pull around with my glass for sale, my juggling props, my chair, or even a basket with the kitty inside. I am sick of hauling things around site, so I want to put all of that puppy energy to good use. Not to mention that then she can carry her own damn water bowl!
