Way back at the beginning of the year I went to my doctor about the really bad headaches I had been having. She said that yes indeed I had migraines, and that I also was also having sinus headaches, and probably musculo-skelatal pain in the mix also. So I started Physical therapy for my neck, went to an alergist/sinus specialist about the sinus issues and was perscribed some migraine meds. Dr. Chang, the alergist/sinus specialist established that I didn't have any airborn allergies causing my problems and that I have chronic sinusitis. I started an annoying course of anti-biotics that lasted for a month then went down to one per week along with squirting a cup of saline solution up my nose twice a day and using nose spray and a steroid nose spay - what fun. Then I got sick, and had to start all over. Then last month I had those two weeks of migrains and stopped everything again because my head already hurt and there was no why I was squirtting anything anywhere NEAR my face when I was in that much pain. So I had an appointment yesturday with Dr. Chang, and was all prepared to try out a different specialist if he wanted me to do the exact same things again. Luckily he didn't. I am still supposed to put stuff up my nose. I am going to try out a different anti-biotic (no one ever believes me when I point out that the one he origenally tried doesn't work on me - about 6 doctors have tried it!) and do the nose squirty cleaning out my sinuses thing, and also go have a sinus CAT scan to see if there are any other issues. So I will begin torchering myself twice per day once more on Tuesday. I am going to enjoy my weekend before starting up the doom again. I still haven't figured out a good way to deal with lots of water and snot at SCA events, I guess I am just lucky that summer camping season is almost over for me. SIgh. I really want to feel better - it sucks haveing a constantly stuffy head! It is yet another reason I don't sing, makes me feel icky a lot of the times, and also causes me to get sick way more often than I should. I would love to be able to cure it without any sort of surgery. I just wish there was a way that didn't involve my sending water the wrong way through one-way tubes. It can supposedly take up to 6 months to work. A I really ready to do this for 6 more months? How many variations of anti-biotics and nose torcher am I willing to try? I will try this again with the new anti-biotic, but if I get sick again, I will be back where I started, alll stuffed up and icky. I need to find out more about the other alternatives (apparently there IS a surgery - shudder) and how affective they are in the long run. ANd in the mean time I need to go in new week for my first CAT scan - fun fun fun...

Hehe, things to look forward too - hot flashes without migraines. Unless they lie like dogs and the hot flashes trigger the migraines instead...

Heh. I wish. No see, hot flashes are PRE menopause. So what I get are hot flashes WITH migraines. Whee!!! I'm looking forward to the end of both. For most women, peri-menopause, that part the folks are *really* talking about when they say menopause, that is the time of hell. Or not, depending on the woman. For me, hell is when I have a hot flash body temp of 105 and it's 95 degrees outside.

I know in the past doctors have tried putting her on hormones to help, but generally they just made everything worse. She has seen a gazillion doctors about it in the last 20 years or so, but the only thing that's had limited sucess were some of the natural progesterone creams, and they didn't stay effective for long, and only helped a bit. :-P I worked for Emerita for a while, and would get her stuff from them, but it really wasn't terribly helpfull. I tell you, it is a maricle we both survived my pre-teen and teenage years considering the moodieness level of our household in those days!
